Microsoft has just confirmed when their next Operating System Windows 7 will be released in time for the holiday 2009 season. This just comes one day after we urged Microsoft to reveal the Windows 7 release date.
A commitment from Microsoft says that Windows 7 will definitely be in stores in time for the key holiday retail season. This is a huge relief for Microsoft, PC manufacturers, and retail partners.
"We're tracking well to deliver Windows 7 in time for holiday availability based on the groundswell of feedback we received from the partner ecosystem, customers and through our own internal testing from pre-Beta to now,"
Bill Veghte, senior vice president for Windows, said in a statement. He added that:
"will not ship the product...until it meets our quality bar."
Microsoft is hoping that with Windows 7 it will restore Microsoft’s pre-Vista image.
Windows generates one third of Microsoft's $60 billion in annual sales and is on more than 90% of the world's personal computers, is the company's most important product. It is key that Microsoft perfects the launch of Windows 7, if they wish to continue to lead the PC market.
