Your Internet Protocol Address (IP Address) is like your home address for your computer. Its your location on the internet and how your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and websites find out who you are. Without the IP Address there would be no internet.
In some situations you may need to find out your IP address. Some of these situations are:
- Troubleshooting
- Knowing if your connected to the internet
- Needing to connect via Remote Desktop Connection
- Your ISP needs it
- Hacking someone's computer (I'm not telling you how to do it)
