If parents need more evidence that texting teens is becoming increasingly dangerous, 15 year old Alexa Longueira from Staten Island walked into an open manhole while texting. Alexa is fine but she did loose a shoe and scraped her back.
Alexa fell about 5 feet into the manhole. Her mother noted that she was also mentally injured, as the sewer was "putrid" and one of her shoes remains there. Apparently, DEP workers were looking for cones to mark the open manhole.
The family said they will sue, but it is unclear who. Alexa really should have been watching where she was walking.
