Pamphlet Discloses That HD Movies are Coming to the Zune Marketplace

BostonPocketPC has uploaded a photo claiming that the above image is a pamphlet given to viewers at a Best Buy Zune HD demonstration. If this is true,this confirms that Microsoft will be selling HD movies on the Zune marketplace. Microsoft has already sold TV shows, music video, and video podcasts on the Zune marketplace so it was only a matter of time.

Amazon Confirms Zune HD Pricing

Yesterday, a Bust Buy employee leaked the Zune HD pricing and it looks like he was not fibbing. Amazon’s pre order page is confirming the price as 220 (16GB) and $290 (32GB).

Flash Zune’s Disappear From the Microsoft Store

 

It looks like all of the hype over the Zune HD has killed the Flash Zune’s. The official Microsoft Zune Store no longer lists any flash players at all, leaving the only the Zune 80 and Zune 120 available for purchase. Amazon and other retailers still have the flash Zune’s in stock, so hurry if you want one because they may not be around for long.

The first photo of a Microsoft Retail Store under construction basically confirms the the leaked store planes. These photos come to us from Microsoft’s official twitter account. The first stores will open in Arizona and Mission Viejo, California this fall.

Stream Zune Songs to your iPhone

Gear Live has found a clever way to stream Zune Pass songs to your iPhone. Why would you do that. Zune Pass gives you an unlimited amount of songs for about $15/month. The issue is that they don't play natively on the iPhone.

You first need to set up Orb on a Windows based computer to transcode, on the fly, your already downloaded Zune songs. Then you can listen to all of your songs (not just 16GB or 32GB of them) wherever you have internet access. It works well on 3G and Wi-Fi but EDGE is too slow for full quality music. Microsoft Picks Zune’s AD Agency to Promote the Zune Phone (a.k.a. Pink)

Advertising firm McCann Erickson has won advertising contract with Microsoft.

The Office shft follows a pitch for a new Microsoft mobile offering won by McCann's T.A.G. unit, said sources. JWT, McCann and fellow roster shop Crispin, Porter + Bogusky competed for that assignment, for which the client used the code-name Pink. – AdWeek

This is basically a confirmation that Microsoft was shopping the project around, and that's about the end of the new information.But a quick trip to the McCann T.A.G. site reveals a portfolio that contains three videos for the Zune, including two ads and a trade reel. Zune? Pink? Zunephone! Pinkphone! Pink Zune! Pink Zune phone! And so on.

Now, these ads are nestled among a fair number of Xbox promotional materials, so it's clear that this is one of Microsoft's go-to teams for advertising in general. But hell, since we still haven't seen any kind of confirmation that the Pink phone's alleged specs and Windows Mobile 7 rumors are real, that Pink is a hardware device, or that the project even still exists, we'll take what we can get. First Videos of Zune HD Get Published to the Internet

Earlier this week, Microsoft confirmed the Zune HD. The leaked images were finally established as genuine thanks to Microsoft's own provided image (right). Later at the All Things Digital conference Microsoft announced Bing, and brought a version of the Zune HD with them so journalists could try it out.

Both sites had positive first impressions of the device. Personally, I can't help but notice that the OLED screen looks absolutely terrific. What are your thoughts of the first video footage of the Zune HD?

Zune HD is confirmed and is coming your way this fall

Today Microsoft Corp. confirmed the top secret Zune HD and it will be shipped this fall. The Zune HD will have a 3.3 inch OLED multitiuch screen, built-in HD Radio receiver, HD output (utilizing a new dock -- not on-board), and... not much more right now. We expect more details during E3 2009.

Microsoft is doing away with the famed squircle in favor a full multitouch device, and they seemed to indicate that some new touch-friendly apps and games would be headed our way, though they were fairly mum when it came to details. The device will boast an IE-based, customized browser, but little else was said in the way of software.

Details about CPU performance, memory and other specs have not been released yet.

More Zune HD Details

A few weeks after the leaked photographs of the Zune HD leaked to the internet there are now details about the top secret device.

The Zune HD is set to have a multi-touch OLED 16:9 and will have a HDMI port on the side. We now know that the HDMI will be used to connect the device to TV’S but, it is unclear if it will be used to transfer data. The Zune will come in 16 and 32GB and will support wireless syncing with PC’s. There are also some rumours that it will be powerful enough to play 3-D Xbox games.

There have also been some speculation about a multi-touch browser. We don’t yet know what browser it will be but lets hope it’s not something similar to Internet Explorer for Windows Mobile. The Zune HD is set to be launched this fall, along with Windows 7. It most likely will be sold in Canada, the U.K, and the U.S. and France.

Is This the Zune HD?

Uh. Looks like something is happening -- big time -- in Zune land. We present what might possibly be your first look at, yes... the Zune HD. In the gallery below, you can see images from what appears to be a forthcoming marketing campaign for Microsoft's new PMP. We don't have any word on specs right now, though we've got a sneaking suspicion this will have an HD display.
Update: Based on discussions with sources, it's looking very likely that the device in these images is -- in fact -- a new Zune on its way to market.
