New York Times To Change Online Access Fees, One Week Before Possible Apple Tablet Announcement

The New York Magazine is reporting that the New York Times will  soon be changing the way they charge readers for online content. Incase you have been living in cave for the past two months, the New York Times has leaked a number of details about the Apple Tablet (or iSlate), which is rumored to be announced on January 27th. This is interesting because it means that A) the New York Times is preparing for a possible tablet announcement from Apple on the 27th or B) that Apple has cut a deal with The New York Times to publish content on the tablet. We are pretty sure that Apple has talked with content providers (including  the New York Times) about publishing content on the Apple Tablet, so it is a big possibility. Could we soon be reading the New York Times on our iSlate’s. We will just have to wait and see.

Rumor: ATI to Provide Graphics For Next Xbox

A source at Fudzilla suggests that Microsoft was so impressed with the graphics that ATI provided for the Xbox, that they will continue to use their graphics chips in their next console. Chances are this chip will have 28-nanometer technology.

Apple Tablet Arriving Q1 Next Year?

If the Apple Tablet really exists it is believed that it will be manufactured by Foxconn. Now DigiTimes is reporting that 400,000 tablets will be ready by the 1 quarter of next year.

Also of note, is that Foxconn has its own Innolux Display subsidiary which might be used instead of Wintek.

I would not take these rumors too seriously though because we don't even know if the Apple Tablet even exists.

Google Experimenting With a New Homepage

Google is apparently experimenting with a new homepage to simplify the design of the the popular search engine.

The new design hides all content except to Google logo and the search, the other content only will appear when the user places their mouse over the webpage. Surprisingly the experimental design completely removes the Google Search and the I’m Feeling Lucky Buttons, which can be an issue for users who don’t know they can press the enter key to search.

Alleged Chrome OS Screenshots Leaked

Another set of unverified screenshots of Chrome OS has been leaked to the internet. An Engadget tipster says most applications run on the internet. Picasa runs locally for photo and movie viewing, and the "System" tab displays the contents of SD cards and digital cameras. Though this image is probably fake, it is interesting. The screenshots are below, tell us what you think by commenting below.

Video of PlayStation 3 Slim Surfaces, Probably Fake

I’m just going to assume this video of a PlayStation 3 Slim, which was purportedly "stolen” at a Philippine street market is fake, but given the piling up evidence and the continuing leaks it just might be real. The video is blurry video of a plastic box with a new rounded logo. We’ll just have to wait and see if any legitimate sources have anything to say about this video.

PSP2 to be More Powerful than Xbox

Sony’s PSP Go was a god attempt to smother PSP2 rumours but it failed miserable. A new rumour is out saying that the PSP2 will have the PowerVR GPU, which is just as powerful as iPhone 3GS GPU. The SGX543MP cited has four cores, and generates 113 Polygons per second on the low end potable 200 megahertz model. What's interesting is that GamesIndustry.biz calls the PSP2 just a "ballpark match" for the original Xbox. They also point out that Imagination Technologies calls the chip a GP-GPU, capable of handling computing tasks in addition to graphics, and potentially giving the PSP2 the power savings of not needing a separate CPU to operate.
