Ribbon Hero Makes it Easier to Learn How to Use Office 2007 and 2010

image There is Guitar Hero, there is Band Hero and now there is… Ribbon Hero? Yes you did read that correctly. You can now become your very own Office Hero.

The Ribbon UI debuted in Office 2007 and had mixed reactions. That is understandable considering that people have been using the old menu strip for over 20 years. The ribbon was designed to make it easier to find features throughout Office but the problem was that you had to lean how to use your favorite programs all over again. Because people were having a really hard time learning how the ribbon works Microsoft decided to make learning Office somewhat “fun” by turning learning the it into a game.

The game installs quickly and works very nicely. In Ribbon Hero you can collect points by completing challenges, or just doing everyday tasks. The game also has Facebook integration so you and your friends can get in  some sort of lame battle to see who can use Office better.

If you want to play ribbon hero, you can check it out here.

PS3 May Get Cross Game Audio Chat

Some major news just came out of the PlayStation official forums. An employee of Sony has just made a huge mistake and confirmed that cross game audio chat may be coming to the PS3 when the next firmware is released. The posting was abruptly removed by Sony.

Cross game text chat has been around for a while now but the console is yet to get audio chat support. It is quite possible that the next firmware update will bring cross game audio chat to the system, but I would not count on it considering the bad track record’s of forum posts.

Microsoft: No New Xbox for you Next Year

project-natal.jpgNo matter what Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer said in Chicago, Microsoft is not planning to release the next Xbox next year.

In a blog post, on Thursday Microsoft said that the Xbox 360 is not even halfway through its lifetime. Microsoft also went on to say that they would not release a new Xbox until late into the next decade. Microsoft is planning to introduce Project Natal, a new gesture-recognizing controller, which is expected for release next year. Ballmer may have gotten this confused with the Xbox. Microsoft has not yet confirmed the release date.

"As the Xbox team stated at E3 two weeks ago, we are not even halfway through the current console generation lifecycle and believe Xbox 360 will be the entertainment center in the home for long into the next decade. Project Natal will be an important part of this platform, but we have not confirmed a launch date at this time."– Microsoft said in a blog post.

That doesn't completely shut the door on new hardware for 2010. Although Microsoft has said it plans to offer Natal as an add-on to the Xbox 360, it seems reasonable that the company might well come out with some new bundle or set-up to accompany Natal's arrival as it looks to convert all of those Wii owners.
